Velocette always churned out some attractive looking m/cs with outside oil lines & such. I bid on a pre-way 250cc OHC, but lost out. Yet owned 3 Vello bikes in my time INCLUDING a '47 LE Velocette being so different & built for the public that simply wanted an inexpensive means of transportation. Only this came to be a flat opposed 175cc SV twin with shaft drive, swinging arm suspension, hand starter, hand gear change & a chassie rather then a frame, with alloy wheels & so quite one could hear the breaker points opening & closing.
Fun was coming down the street as people waited for the bus only no noise bar the sound of the tyres on the grit & even the neighbors thought it was electrically powered.
