Old lightweight

Can you find the model of this bike?
Also from which bike was it inspired?

Hi Aris,

It looks a lot like the Bultaco Mercurio 200cc of 1966 or or.

Here is a picture of one:

Hi Andy,

It's not a Bultaco, it's a much more humble motorcycle used to transport the masses after the war.
This bike was produced for many years and in many different configurations.
One more interesting thing about it is that it was conceived first as a different bike!
Here is another picture for you, showing an earlier bike.

Hi Aris,

It is a 196? BSA model D175 Bantam. Located on this page:

http://www.mistgreen.com/fastfind.htm

The other picture "Trivia3" is located at this page:

The original Bantam's were based on the DKW RT125 (as were many other motorcycles of the time).

Good trivia... very interesting.

Thumbs up

Hi Andy,

You got it right of course
The DKW 125 was an extremely good design for the tiome and the allies took over the drawings and rights to produce it after the war.
The Bantam was produced in UK by BSA for many years and in large numbers.
It's a very popular bike in UK and many are restored.

When the allies looked at this DKW the design was shared by the UK AND USA. So BSA Bantam & Harley-Davidson in the States!!!!!
