Question What Does "Katana" Mean In Japanese.....

A two-part teaser for all you hard-core Suzuki riders and motorcycles buffs.

1) What does "Katana" mean/is ?

2) With "It's" meaning, what does the 600, 750 & 1100 models signify or represent ?

Good Luck!

Katana is a type of sword. The numbers represent the size (cc)of the motors displacement.

do the three different displacements represent the three different sizes of swords traditionally carried by samurais?

I think Katanas (one-edged sword) were only allowed to be carried by samurais in feudal Japan.

Umm, i would guess the #s represent the engine displacements as Schpreck said or the length, in mm, of each blade a samurai was supposed to carry?

Exclamation

Schpreck & Always Newbie good collective effort!

The "katana" is the "sword" made most famous by the Samurai discipline. Whereas the motorcycles displacements may also be referred to the three "sizes" or sword "lengths".

600cc = "Small" or "Short" Blade
750cc = "Intermediate" or "Middle" Blade
1100cc = "Long" Blade or "Long" Sword

Blade lengths from a bit more than 13" to lengths of more than 30".

Hai!

I always thought Katana meant "very ugly, overweight ,underpowered motorbike." Or was it just short for Can a tuna?
