A difficult one?

This one isn't an easy... (I hope)

As usual, what manufacturer, model etc.
Th epicture itself contains some hints

It sort of looks a bit like a late 70's Kawasaki with a rotary motor.

Hey madkaw, you got it right
It's the 1976 Van Veen OCR 1000 (made in Holland), with a twin rotor rotary engine. It used a compression ratio of 9:1 and produced 100PS (which was quite a lot back then).

Suddenly thought - It's a Van Veen!
But Madkaw beat me to it.

Was there ever a "successful" rotary bike built?..

How many Van Veens did they sell?

Didn't... hmmm... Suzuki make a factory rotary? *quick trip to Google* Ah, yes. The RE5. I don't know if you'd call a 2 or 3 year model run "successful" or not...

Of course, not to forget the Nortons - including their IOM TT win on a rotary with - was it Steve Hislop in the mid 90's
