Smallest 4 cyl Italian engine

Hi everybody,

Time for some new exciting trivia

What was the capacity of the smallest 4 cylinder Italian made motorcycle engine and on which bikes was it used?

Hi Tigertex,

Your answer is partly correct.
There was a 250cc Guzzi using that engine but it wasn't named just Guzzi 250 and it wasn't a 1974 model, it had a different codename and it was made a few years later.

Plus the same engine was used on 3 different motorcycles of 3 different brands!

I'm not telling the full answer yet!

Back to the internet, google should do it

but I was using google, darn-it. I guess it failed me.

I got it off of some cached page. Somebody was trying to sell one.

"1974 Moto Guzzi 250
This was the smallest production Transverse Inline 4 Cylinder made by Moto Guzzi, with the tachometer and speedo factory-mounted on the gas tank. Red, with only 700 original (pre-restoration) miles, a rare treasure at $3,200.00"

There was a CBR250RR and the Phazer 250 (both 4 cyl) but the question is for ITALIAN bikes.
What makes these little Italian screamers interesting is that they were made more than 10 years before the japanese ones!
