thanks for your keen interest in the future of Aprilia in Canada. Our goal is to have 2001 model year Aprilias on the streets of Canada by this spring. We have received the factory's commitment and are now working with their engineering department to compile the appropriate test data - brake, lights, emissions and noise to allow us to apply for Canadian DOT approval. The issue at the present time isn't Ottawa the issue is getting the time and focus at Aprilia. Aprilia produces +600,000 units annually and with their recent acquisitions it has been more than a little difficult to get Canada and our issues elevated on their priority list. We share your impatience - we can't wait to get the first container of bikes landing on our shores - the market is certainly ready.
I was wondering when Aprilia finally come to Canada , will the RS125,RS250 be outfitted in street legal versions ?
The first units to arrive in Canada will be competition only, that is, we will not have DOT approval for licensing. Down the road pending consumer demand by model we will continue to expand the model range that is "street legal". Our priority for licensing will be the Mille family, the SR scooter range and the Scarabeo scooter family.
