Question

Just picked up my bike on Sunday, 2001 CBR600 F4i... I've been reading up on the sport bike sites, and i'm just wondering, what does Squid mean? It seems to be used to describe people who do stunts alot?

Post Squid

Welcome! I'm pretty new here too. I just read in Rider magazine that it's a "squirrelly kid".

From what I see on the boards - sport bike, wearing sneakers, shorts, t-shirt doing 150mph on the highway, 2nd gear wheelies at 90mph......

The actual (original) definition of a squid rider is this.
Squid - A rider that rides curves in a style much like the sea creature swims. A squid (sea creature) will take off fast in a straight line but will slow down to almost a complete stop in order to turn. This style of swimming was applied to define those that will go as fast as they can in a straight strip of road but when they come to a turn....they slow down alot and go very slowly through the turn. When the road straightens out they take off again.

Hope that helps you out. The definition has been expanded to describe a variety of stupid motorcyclists. It is often confused with the term 'poser'.

Just wondering if the original poster ever saw this??

Also, does everyone agree with this definition? I would like to start a forum that would give definitions the terms that we use. (squid, poser, cage, etc.)

Squid

Maybe our friends in the UK could help here, but my British brother-in-law seems to use the word "squid" like we use 'jerk' or 'idiot'... not just to describe motorcyclists.
