hello everybody,
my name is jeff and im a new member here at SBW!!!
and im excited. im new to the sportbike world and hopefully with help from others will enjoy it.
im 20 years old and have never ridden a streetbike.
i hope that all the members here will help me on my way to the top.

my first question here on the forum is: is a 2001 yam r6 a good first bike? i really dont want to start out on a piece of dirt, i want something i can grow into.any help?

Welcome to SBW.

I do not recommend an R6 for a first bike but that doesn't mean it can't be. It really depends on your mindset. If you get proper training and have self control then you can start on about anything. Self control is the key. Good luck and take the Motorcycle Safety Course.

Welcome, I agree with john about the R6.
Use the search function and you will read pages of opinions as to what the best starter bike is.

I think that you can start out on anything, seeing that I have only rode a streetbike twice before I bought my first bike (my current one). I do recommend that you take the Motorcycle Safety Course. I took it then picked up my bike. I had A LOT more confidence in my abilities after the course and can pretty much handle the bike. It just depends on what you feel comfortable on.
