WI new guy and I need your advice

Hey what's up! My name is Nick, I stared out on a old school fzr 600 and then moved up to a 900rr but I ended up having to sell it and I have been out of the game for about 5 years or so but I'm hoping this summer I'm back to riding again. I need your advice on the best bike for the money, Idont have time to read all the reviews on the bikes. I'm pretty much looking to ride to work to help save gas on my car and truck and then like everyone else I just like to ride with friends nothing crazy and no track days (I wish there was a track around here). Looking for Mpg and the best comfort I can get for a sport bike, I'm 6' 1" with long legs and arms and would like to get a 600cc I dont need the power of a liter bike. I'm looking to stay around the $6000 or $7000 range or less, what's your advice?

Thanks!

First, welcome
Second, no tracks?!?!!? Are you crazy? You have one of the best in the Country: Road America!

Depends on what riding with friends really means. For mileage supersports are not as good as other like the SV650 or 650R. Going higher in displacement will cost you in gas. Supersports are particularly tough on tires too, and those get pricey fast. My calculations showed that my '05 636 getting 45mpg was no better in cost than my 30mpg car because of the tire and safety gear effects.

If you want a supersport, anything in that's 3yo should be about in your price range. For the other two mentioned you can get something newer, maybe even new (haven't looked in a while).

'Course if you really want great mileage the last generation of 250s really got it.
