Hi!

The one thing I always tell the new rider is not to skimp on the helmet, after all: how much is your head worth??
Enjoy and be safe!!!

Nice to here about your purchase. I don't thiink you can get a helmet and jacket for under 300 unless they are used. A used jacket is OK, but I would caution against a used helmet, unless you know its whole history, some people repaint rashed helmets, and even though it has a good paint scheme, it might have internal cracks in the foam/plastic lining that could diminsish the helmet's protection.

try these sites for a new helmet:

chaparral
ronayer
dennis kirk
motorcycle accessory warehouse

try craigslist.org for a used jacket

your link to your pic still doesn't work for me.??

Yeah,
$500.00 is a lot. Usually HJC/KBC will have something in the $150-$200 range that will be Snell and DOT Approved. They also have some nice graphics.

You could buy a new Icon Mainframe helmet for about $190. It's a good helmet with a nice fit. Now, to try to stay under $300 is going to be tough if you still need a jacket and gloves etc. the thing you need to remember is that it's better to shell out the dough now instead of giving it to the hospital.

Always dress to go down. It will save your ass!!!

Congrats, welcome, and be safe

thanks for the advice guys.... so far i purchased a helmet and gloves.

the gloves are white Icon's from the honda dealer for 40 bux

the helmet is a scorpion helmet from scorpionusa.com for 139.99

all i need is a jacket and i'll be set. i might wait for that for my birthday.

besides i'll be getting a new set of tires here soon because the back one is shot.
