Smile newbie here!

hey all,

Just wanted to introduce myself...

I'm new to SBW and new to bikes in general. Got my first bike month or so ago... Kawa GPZ400R. Its pretty old ('91 I think) but its in damn fine condition.

Its a nice allround bike to learn on (not that I have anything to compare it to!). Not TOO much power, but more than enough to do the job. Very stable through corners, and easy to control.

Anyways... just wanted to say hi from sunny South Africa.

Weathers been crap the last month or so, but now the sun's coming out and the bike is begging to be ridden!!

Oh, a question for those of you in other countries... whats the fine for getting caught riding without a license. Here its about a $20 fine.

Hi chris

20 rand, wow!

Over here you'll lose what ever licences you have.
And you get fined... dont know how much. And you're bared from getting a licence for 3 months for your first offence.

Just curious, has it happened to you lately?

ps I'm coming to watch the Aussies win the cricket world cup in Cape Town next year. Better watch out!

sorry... that's 20 US$

Just trying to convert it to $$$ so that most people can understand it better.

Nah, it didnt happen to me on my bike... happened while driving my car. Left my license at home... officer took down my details from my ID book and gave me a ticket. I went to the police station and paid without ever showing my license.

I guess that why we have some of the worst drivers in the world... its easier to just pay the occasional fine when you do get stopped.

As for the cricket... we'll have to wait and see!

Well lets see thats about 200 rand?

My cousin failed his test but bought his licence in '96 for 150 rand, I was on holiday over there at the time.

As far as cricket goes I hope Australia and South Africa dont end up meeting in a semi-final both teams stand a chance and maybe New Zealand.

Welcome to SBW

From South Africa ---- does SBW allow foreign people on its board?

I guess so since I am from Canada. Nice to have you aboard Chris.
We will have a lot to learn from you as you have bikes over there that were never introduced into N/A & you Kwacker 400 is just one of probably a number of others!!!!
Besides your country churns out some darn good h/guns & long bbl guns as well, so history tells us.
