Support Hillary?

Quote:
In a surprise move yesterday, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton called for "most of the country" to return to a speed limit of 55 mph in an effort to slash fuel consumption.
"The 55-mile speed limit really does lower gas usage. And wherever it can be required, and the people will accept it, we ought to do it," Clinton said at the National Press Club.

WHAT?!

Ok, this one single issue would be enough for me to vote against her.

Anybody else remember what it was like when the speed limit was 55? I do, and it SUCKED!

Its irrelevant who said it since there have been more than a few legislators, state and federal, calling for this.

I can say that despite the "scientific data" that shows how much better fuel consumption is at 55, my own detailed records show that the difference is quite negligible. I call on the "data".

So if you happen to be the antiwar type, you should not criticize the president since more then one legislator approved of it?

A 55mph speed limit would just be retarted. I don't see that their would be much of a difference in gas milage between a 55mph and a 70mph highway speed. If they really want to save money on gas, do something about all the people who dirve trucks and SUV's that don't need them. I'm tired of seeing people rolling around in Cadillacs Escalades because of the status it brings them and not becuase they need the added power and towing ability... friggin soccer moms need to go back to their vans... and all those raised mud-bogging trucks need to go as well. They waiste far more gas than a 55mph speed limit would save. But then again, it would be a hard law to enforce.

Vash- I agree with you. It bugs me when people only point to the top and blame them for all the problems, when it takes several people to make the decisions.

Hi All-

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is recycling ideas raised by President Jimmy Carter nearly a quarter-century ago. She needs to improve her technological vision if she wishes to remotely be considered a leader. She isn't my cup of tea.

Wonder how much it would cost to make millons of "speed limit 55" signs.

If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all who claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think everything you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told you should want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned...... Tyler

More than it would save the nation already hurting from gas prices. Lots more. Sign changing is expensive. I worked for Texas Department of Transportation (a client), and the budget was hundreds per sign.

It really pisses me off when politicians come up with these half cocked ideas.
First off they should reinstitute the tax rebate on hybrid electrics. They need to stop coddling the car companies when it comes to these issuses. They force all these safety requirements that we have to pay extra for mind you . I don't need all those damn air bags. If car companies offered a strip down model with minimal safety tech at a greatly reduced price you would see how many people would buy it. Just let me sign a waiver saying if I die it was my own damn choice. Anyway I rant, but if they passed a legislation that forced car companies to produce more fuel effecient cars in a given amount of time. And actually enforced said law we wouldn't have lower any speed limits.

P.S. I would like to see no limit like that Audobahn but that aint happening anytime soon

Hi Karmastuntra-

You could almost say that you wish to join the Audobahn Society in some way.
