Check this story out...

Some of you may have seen this already. It has made its way around to just every automotive board you can imagine. The site is slammed with traffic, so you may not get through, but please check it out at some point.

Just check out the linked thread in the first message.

If you get the chance, there are really two threads to read. One started by the idiot mechanic on one board, and another started by the cars owner. Both are loooong threads, but good reads if you have the time.

Here is the original post by the idiot mechanic that started it all.

MAN IT WAS WAY COOL, DROVE A '03 COBRA VERT TODAY THAT WAS IN THE SHOP, ME AND ANOTHER TECH TOOK IT OUT AND DROVE IT, DROVE HER HARD, 6 SPEED TRANNY, WE HIT 140 MPH REAL QUICK, TALK ABOUT POWER. NOT THAT WE DO IT HERE ALL THE TIME, BUT I JUST HAD TO RUN IT, IT WAS CALLING MY NAME... THE POWER IT HAS IN UNREAL, YOU JUST NEED TO GET OUT AND TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY, BY THE WAY, THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT WAS LACK OF POWER AND POOR GAS MILEAGE, WHAT A CROCK... NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT IS OWNED BY A FEMALE, SHE EVEN SAID IT WAS DYNOED AT A SHOP AND THEY TOLD HER THAT THE CONVERTORS WERE TOO HOT AND THE FUEL TRIM WAS WAY OFF. I HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER, FUEL TRIM WAS NORMAL, CAT TEMP WAS OK, NO CODES, AND IT RAN GREAT. GO FIGURE.. OH YEAH, SHE EVEN TOLD THE SERVICE WRITER TO MAKE SURE THAT NO "PUNK" DRIVES HER CAR, WELL SINCE I AM THE MUSTANG SPECIALIST HERE AT THE DEALER, I GUESS I AM "THE PUNK", ALL THE MORE TO DRIVE HER '03 COBRA VERT AND SEE WHAT ITS GOT.. HEHE HOPE SHE DIDNT HAVE A HIDDEN CAMERA IN THAT CAR...... GET THIS, HER PLATES SAY "XXXX XX"

(Replace XXXX XX with her actual vanity tag)

The linked thread is the owner's husband's thread about the thread that the mechanic started on another board.

The awesome thing is to read all of the support that Tracy, the Cobra owner, has gotten from all over the web. There are people chiming in from boards like Ford, F-Body, Acura, 4x4, Nissan, Escort, Corvette, Honda, Subaru, and many more. There is also one message from an R1 forum. All these people just came together to support a fellow car enthusiast who was grossly mistreated.

Hope that all makes sense. I assume once the traffic dies down you will be able to read the whole thing.

How strange that I've never even seen that story before!!! And I've seen darn near every outrageous car story ever...

I'd be severely peeved if someone did that with my car when it was in the shop. If I were one of the owners, I'd hold that man's job in the palm of my hands and laugh as I crushed it to pieces before him.

Stupid, Ignorant Juveniles.

I've been a long time member of that site... It was closed for a couple days due to the huge server problems from people from all over! Dan (the owner) was saying he was getting over 1300 requests for that thread a second!!!!!!!! 61,000 views in two days!
But anyways what this guy did reaffirms why I do all my own work.

Now that is funny I bet that service tec is sweating his balls off. What a moron

there's hope in the words and emotion in the eyes
it's so easy to be misled by the savvy gentle guise
and like fools we trust the delivery
but it's all just drunk sincerity
