Talking I played with my Snorkel and ripped it off.

Ok actually I took off the snorkel from my air box. is all I can say for it. Huge difference in the grunt of the V4. SWEET is all I can say for it. Any one that has a VFR, rip that puppy off. If you don't like the results you can always put the snorkel back on. If you all want I can make a video of how to remove it and how it sounds. It is also supposed to give a little more horsey power, I noticed it.

Also, for the sicko's (RCJohn, Pete, Robert, Squid) you might like this link about snorkel pulling.

Huhuhuh you said poping up.

I did it last week. There is a J shaped piece of rubber that sits in front of your airbox.

1. Remove seat and rear cowling
2. Remove to black screws from fron of tank (They are almost 1.2 inches in length.
3. Have friend, wife, husband, dog, cat, anyone that can hold the gas tank from smahing your hands.
4. Look for rubber piece sticking out from the front of the airbox.
5. Pull out, careful as it will be a wee bit hard to do. Jiggle side to side and up and down.
6. The piece itself is about 6 inches long.
7. Put tank back down, put in screws, put seat and cowl back on.
8. Grab helmet and gloves, make quick run on now grunting sounding motorcycle.

I noticed a HUGE difference in the sound, and a bit more horsey's. Not everyone will get the same result though. The snorkel is easier to take out than put back in. If you want a sound byte, let me know.

Okey dokey, sounds simple enough I'll try it this weekend.

BTW, Im getting a Powercommander for my birthday, do you have one? Is it worth it if I only have a slip-on?

Do you also have a K&N filter?

K&N, yes. Power Commander, No. I talked with a buddy of mine from a local shop in town. I ordered a Power Commander, he said that it is really a waste of money on a slip on. It really does nothing for you. He said the only thing to use it on is a full system.

Kyle, don't worry. Just do like RCJohn did, buy the PC just so you can look cool having a laptop plugged into your bike.

Pulled mine off tonight...and drilled MORE holes!

I installed my Cobra F1R slip-ons last night. Now that my bike's exhaust is louder, I thought I'd do some air-box mods.

I yanked the two snorkels that a VF1000R has, opening up a much larger area. I also cut a large hole right in the front middle. The two snorkel holes are at about 45 degrees on each front cornder. It IS a healthy grunting sound.

I didn't want it without the exhaust audio to go with it. I tried this on a 550 Yamaha Vision V-twin I had, and it sounded AWFUL.

Now my bike sounds reminiscent of the mid '80s when lots of Interceptors were on the racetracks around the country. Nothing like a V-4 roar.

I still think my friends Aprilia Falco with race pipes sounds better though.
