Engine Swap problem

First off I got nearly kick off another forum for threaten another member for doing stupid sh!t. Just getting that out the way because I know members come to this site, too. I know what I did was stupid.

Last year (late 2007) I blew the motor on my gsx-r 2006 750. Filled up the engine with oil for winter storage but didn't clear the cylinders when I tried to start it.
Finally I took it the dealership they cleared them, but the damage was done.
I decided to get another motor. Using the service manual, I took out the old one. i put the new(er) one in. I forgot to put on the chain. I tried by hand to bend it around the shaft but failed, of course. I took the motor back out (when my cousin was available to help) and put the chain back on. As I adjusted for slack (1") , the rear wheel started hitting the rear brake pad. As I torqued it down, it work barely move and the slack was about 1/4". Do you think I bent the chain? Or did something else happen?
