Question 2K1 GSXR 600 Water Pump Help !!!!!!!

at the end of last season my chain broke while I was riding and it shattered my water pump....amongst other things. I pulled the pump off and noticed the shaft off the back of the pump has to line up with a shaft inside the engine case. both shafts flop around so how the heck do I get the two shafts to line up when I go to put the new water pump back on????? help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think in the course of your water pump shattering, you may have broke the seals as well, and possibly an internal gear. The other shaft inside the engine happens to be the oil pump shaft, and it shouldn't be flopping around.
