engine rebuilding in ma/ri area

I have a 1997 yamaha yzf1000 i suspect it has a possible serious mtr issue and need to rebuild. Does anybody know of a shop in ma/ri area that is capable of trouble shooting a engine noise? The bike is rideable but has a rattling/knocking coming from the clutch side of the engine. I have already replaced the clutch basket and plates, this noise is only at idle and does not matter if you have the clutch pulled in. Also if you bring the bike above 1500rpms it almost completely goes away. I am the second owner and not sure of the previous owners issues as i got this bike dirt cheap and slightly wrecked. Aside from the noise the bike runs strong and starts up without issues. I have been told by people on the r1 forums that it could be a bad crank gear, bad rod bearing or even the exup valve. I dotn want to start tearing it apart for no reason.....any input would be great.
