I thought it was supposed to be a warmer than average winter??

Michigan has had the coldest winter in decades. Water expands to
freeze, and at MacinawCity the water in Lake Huron below the surface ice was supercooled. It expanded to break through the surface ice and froze into this incredible wave.

I wonder how long that will take to melt??

I thought this was a warmer winter too.
We didnt have anywhere near the long sub-zero cold spells that we had in previous years....like all day long near or below zero weather for days....

Odd....

say what??? we had at least 3 weeks of 0* to -5* temps. 1 straight week, then the other 2 weeks spread out of nasty cold temps.

I dont recall much more than a few days in a row with almost zero nights.

I suggest you do not hint about warm winter or such to any of the Cdns in Ontario to the coast of the Atlantic. They sort of went through a bit of 'ell.

Personally having lived in Western Canada & being 77+ yrs or age I can tell you it is a different story usually in said four provinces. Anyone with brains on their head knows that around the end of March they can think about getting their bikes out, but to always be prepared for snow to hit us early in April. Around early weeks of April is when we can think about riding till later days of October. SO our riding span is a bit limited to many of the places in the USA.

Remember all the others on the road are crazy & out to kill you.
