Dad Witnesses Crash that Kills 2 Sons

Southfield (WWJ) -- Two brothers are dead after an accident in Harrison Township Thursday night and Sheriff Mark Hackel says their father witnessed the crash.

Macomb County Sheriff's investigators say Michael and Christopher Ulbrik were in a Mustang that crossed the median on Metro Parkway near North Pointe Drive and collided with a second car before rolling over. The accident happened about 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses told investigators Michael Ulbrik was driving at normal speed and for some unknown reason sped up and lost control of the car. The 23-year old was thrown from the Mustang. Sheriff Hackel told WWJ the father saw the vehicle leave the road and cross the median. Hackel said the roads were slick at the time of the crash.

The driver of the second car was treated and released from the hospital.

Hackel said alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash. It's unknown if seatbelts were being used.

17-year old Christopher Ulbrik attended Riverside Academy in the L'anse Creuse Public School District. He also attended L'Anse Creuse High School earlier and counselors will be meeting with students.

I have been hearing a lot of this storry, a local car forum i am on, xceedspeed.com, tons of people knew the family, and no one is really sure what happened.

Someone people were saying that someone didn't tighten down the rear axel shaft, and it losened up and let go and thats when they lost control.

Tragedy
