Anyone Else Notice This?

Well, one cool thing about how high gas prices have been is the simple fact that I'm seeing A LOT more bikes on the road. More bikes and more older bikes as well. Some of them look like rat bikes that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole but....

Maybe prices being where they are will help get the US mentality away from bikes simply being toys and more people to understand that they are a viable alternative form of transportation.....we can only hope.....

Yeah I've seen alot of the classic old school bikes, similar to the ones msf uses zinging around down here.

i've seen quite a few new riders up at andersons buying little 250 shadows and stuff because they are so cheap. Either way, it's nice to see more bikes on the road because it raises everyones awareness of motorcycles, I just hope some commuter trying to save a couple bucks doesn't get creamed by soccer mom SUV.

My thoughts too.
Safer with more riders,
Hope no one gets hurt.

Gas prices and bikes

Yeah, come to think of it, I have seen more 70's/80's UJM's (Universal Japanese Motorcycle) out on the road lately. I guess people are taking them out of their sheds, dusting them off, and getting back out on the road to save some gas.

Seen a LOT more scooters too.

Now that you mention it, I did see a honda 250 tied down with groceries as I was going to work. I was gonna tell my mom about it cause she is anti bike. She doesn't think they can be a pratical daily commuter.

My thoughts exactly. Same thing's happening here.

I have also noticed a lot of "garage queens" for sale at fantasy land prices... Yesterday I saw a 78 Yamaha XS650 for $3000.

Yep.

My neighbor got his 1981 Honda GoldWing started after about 15 years of sitting in his garage. He is all about the bike now...

Thats really not outrageous if its a good looking bike. The XS650's have a cult following.
