The car involved in the accident was driven by a woman identified in published reports Tuesday as Martha Fleishman, 62, of Pittsburgh. The car was registered in Maine, where she has a summer home, police said. No charges were filed.

"She really feels terrible about the whole thing, and we certainly wish him a speedy recovery," said her husband, Martin Fleishman.

He declined to comment on his wife's condition, except to say, "She's doing as best as she can."

HA! Wouldn't that be some shit.....if the 62 year old lady decides to sue HIM?

broke his jaw and nose in a motorcycle crash...remained in serious but stable condition after seven hours of surgery.

Roethlisberger also suffered a 9-inch laceration to the back of his head, has lost or chipped a number of teeth and has minor injuries to his knees from hitting the pavement.

A broken jaw normally takes seven weeks to heal. It is not known how long it will take for the other injuries to heal. Pittsburgh's training camp begins in late July.
Whoa! He's out at least 7 weeks! Just in time to start the season?

I'm sorry if this is a repeat, but who was at fault in the accident and why?

Vash, here are a few details.

Roethlisberger was between radio interviews and on his black 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa -- a large, racing-style bike -- and heading toward an intersection on the edge of downtown. A silver Chrysler New Yorker traveling in the opposite direction took a left turn and collided with the motorcycle, and Roethlisberger was thrown, police said.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Roethlisberger flew into the Chrysler's windshield and then hit the ground head first. Blood pooled around him on the pavement, the paper said.

No charges were filed.

So, assuming no excessive speeds, the 62 year old was at fault.

Which makes it somewhat odd, that here we are flaming the guy, when he wasnt the one who messed up. The helmet thing is still pretty stupid, but maybe its time to put the fault where it should be

Well it just goes to show that just because your in control doesn't mean you can control others. It's better to be safe than sorry.

What's really p!ssed me off about this whole thing is the treatment motorcycling is getting in general. Everyone has to note that he was riding "the fastest motorcycle in the world" and that "Ben hit a car" instead of the fact that Ben was in an accident, fault had not yet been identified. I actually heard a sportscaster on the radio yesterday mention that if Ben was on a Harley or Touring Bike he wouldn't have had such a problem with the accident but since he was on a "crotch rocket" that was totally unacceptable. ??? WTF? Whether he was on a Harley, a Busa or a friggen Honda Helix Scooter, if he was doing the speed limit and had the classic left turn in front accident, it shouldn't matter. Was he carelss for not protecting himself, his family and his team to the best of his ability? Absolutely! The spin going on to this already is ridiculous! Yet again the uninformed media is barking away and spewing whatever it can to get ratings/headlines......

what I heard on DSR last night was not in favor for Ben... they were the ones I heard about him riding on an expired permit.. which to me should be talked about.. come on.. he goes without a helmet cuz he the law says he can but he rides without a valid permit... and I swear I heard them say learners.. which means he was in violation of the no helmet requirements to begin with dont' they require you to be have an endorsement for 2 yrs??? and wasn't he riding alone? so even if his permit was still valid he would have been in violation of it.. you're suppose to have another rider who has their endorcement with you correct ? not sure if it's the same for all states..

It's a shame that the celebrities get more attention over such matters cuz you know darn well there are many others out there that have had this very same scenario and it get's lost in the back page of some small town paper....
