Thing is, if you don't like to wear a helmet; when you go down you may not have the chance make that decision again..

only a $10,000 insurance policy in case you wreck with no helmet?

In an ICU with major head trauma, 10 grand would last about 4 hours.
Then who picks up the tab, taxpayers?
Screw that!

You do not wish to wear a helmet, fine. You crash and it is all on you and your pocketbook, not the public's.

yeah and the rest of us that are still livin have to pay for the expenses that persons death cost because it will raise our insurance liabilities that much more

I say if they're gonna do it.. then make it so that if you get injured while riding a motorcycle without a helmet your insurance wont' cover a cent AND IT ALL COMES OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET NOT THE PUBLIC CUZ THEIR INS DIDN't COVER IT....

Then we can weed out the idiots and not have to pay for it

E.
helmets saves lives as well as reduces greatly the chance of serious injury to the head.... (maybe not in ALL cases but in more cases it does than not) I know mine did from my deer wreck .. can you imagin what my head would look like according to the helmet damage?

FL has virtually the same law. You must be atleast 21 and have atleast 10k worth of health insurance in order to not be required a helmet. I don't have a problem with it because when they wreck, its just one less moron on the road.

granholm has already said in the past, when all this first started that she would veto this bill if it got to her...

What were the original votes in the house and senate? Maybe they have enough votes to override a veto and put Granholm in her place. Man she sucks worse than Bush.
