Such a sick feeling in my stomach

I was riding my bike home from Waterford tonight coming from Amy's place, and throughout the area, people leave their bikes along side the road advertised for sale. As I was going south onto Union Lake Rd from Cooley, a heavy duty pickup truck with an open trailer was in front of me. Normally, I would have passed him and not thought anything of it, however, his North Dakota plated trailer was STUFFED over the edge with used street/cruiser style bikes. The last bike was literally just ratchet strapped in and it was bouncing all over the place ready to fall out of the trailer.

I felt sick to my stomach knowing those were probably stolen bikes. Travelling at 1am with a trailer full of bikes AND two thrown in the back of the bed, trailer lights not functioning correctly, and killing his lights when another motorcyclist was tailing him....fishy!!! As soon as I got close enough to get the trailer's plate #, he pulled over to the side of the road, killed his lights, let me pass, then started it all back up and drove on. I called Oakland County dispatch to report the plate #, but I doubt anything will happen.

Edit: In case anybody subscribes to an oakland county newspaper or follows police calls, lemme know if a mass quantity of bikes were reported stolen tonight

That sux, I don't know what I would have done. There isn't much you could have done.

You did the right thing getting the plate number. But we can assume that plate was stolen just like the bikes.

I dont know why people would leave there bikes on the side of the road to sell, ofcorse theft is extremely common here in FL. But I agree you did the right thing. If you had tried to pull him over yourself for something like a citizens arrest, you woulda been putting youself in danger and could end up facing a law suit. Sorry to hear about these happening.
