$3800

Dude, that thing is a shit-heap. Unknown manufacturer of an air cooled, 249cc V-twin. If it really costs $3800, it is TOTALLY overpriced. Are you sure about that price?

New, you could buy a Kawasaki Ninja 250 for $2999.

Used, you could buy a virtually unlimited list of damn decent bikes. One that comes to mind would be a used Suzuki SV 650.

Hyosung

Now, the Hyosung 650 I have heard about. Very comparable to the Suzuki SV 650. I think that Hyosung has actually licensed building that motor in-house from Suzuki, so the bikes are very similar. Just that the Hyosung is cheaper. Who knows, maybe in another 10-20 years, Hyosung will be a household name in motorcycling. You never know.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation regarding Hyosing flying about, so.... Here goes.

Hyosung is the largest manufacturer in Korea. They make everything from textiles to forklifts, to cruise ship motors. in 1978, they split off Hyosung Motors & Machinery and started building motorcycles. In 1979, they entered a strategic deal with Suzuki to build motorcycles for them. They have been manufacturing motorcycles for Suzuki for the past 30 years, including the SV650. Non-compete agreements expired a few years back, and they started doing more under their own name. The GT650 motor is similar to the SV, because they build both.

The Comet 250 retails at $3299 in nekkid form, and $3699 fully faired. It's more bike than the Ninja 250 in just about every way imaginable. I've posted this before on other forums, but here's the list:

Kawi: tube frame
Hyosung: Perimeter frame
Kawi: Small diameter conventional forks
Hyosung: large diameter inverted forks
Kawi: Single disk front brakes
Hyosung: Dual front disk* (*250R only)
Kawi: Non-adjustable suspension
Hyosung: Fully adjustable suspension
Kawi: Bias Ply tires
Hyosung: Radial tires
Kawi: Non-adjustable rearsets
Hyosung: Adjustable rearsets

As to the 650, it's still a stellar deal, as the SV650 in the *SAME TRIM LEVEL* is 20% more cash. The nekkid GT650 is $4999 MSRP.
