Redline Picnic September 18th 12pm - 4pm

We are going to have a picnic at Kensington Metro Park on Sunday, September 18th from 12pm - 4pm. All are welcome.

We have reserved a pavillion, pavillion B on the attached map. The amenities include swing set, volleyball court, outhouses, and horseshoe pits. As you can see the beach is a ways away, as is the golf course.

I will need a head count of adults and children. This is to assure that there will be enough food and fun. A general idea is what I need, just so food is not over or under purchased. Read between the lines here...everyone is more than welcome even if you don't RSVP. So if you know you can make it, let us know. I'm sure there will be enough food for everyone, I just need a starting point of how much is needed. Please RSVP with Michelle, screen name Misha via PM, or, post up with how many and ages if children, if that applys.

This should be a fun time of hanging out with old friends and meeting new friends. There will be food, beverages, and snacks. Games for the kids (depending on the number).

I know that a few people will be driving to bring the coolers and general things we cannot haul on the back of our bikes. lol. So, keep me or Misha posted with your RSVP.

Again, all are welcome and all ages.

I will be meeting with Jen and Michelle to figure out what we will be needing as far as plates, utensils, cups, beverages, food, snacks, desserts, and the like.

Please RSVP by Thursday, September 15th.

Picnic Update

Ok...things are coming together very well. As we are putting this thing together, there are costs associated with everything. So far we have spent $100 to reserve the sheltered picnic area (the $100 came out of my pocket), goodie bags for the kids (jens pocket), and food and drink for the remainder of the day.

We are also looking for help in the name of donations either monetary or otherwise...nothing specific, just whatever you can afford to help offset the costs.

A few things to keep in mind there is a $4 admission into the park per vehicle; alcohol is allowed in our picnic area but NO HARD LIQUOR.

We are in picnic area titled North Windfall "B". Directions are: Exit I96 at Kent Lake Road, exit 153. Follow Signs into the park; travel north on Route #1 (main road through park). Once you reach a traffic circle, bear right (towards Milford Road Exit). North Windfall, shelter "B", is past the tollbooth on the left side. It is between the toll booth and Milford Road. If you enter the park at Milford Road, you must go up to the tollbooth, obtain your park permit, and then turn around and go back to North Windfall.

Here is how you can help, by either bringing one or some of these items. Homemade dips and things are encouraged too. Just post up or PM me as to what you will bring, and I'll mark it off of the list. I will need to know by Saturday, as that is when I intend on going shopping.

  • Things we’ll need:

    Foil pans
    Ketchup
    Mustard
    Relish
    Onions
    Potato Salad
    Hamburgers
    Hamburger buns
    Hot dogs
    Hot dog buns
    Munchies (chips)
    Cheese
    Pop
    Punch
    Plastic cups
    Plastic utensils
    Paper plates
    Paper bowls
    Paper towels
    Napkins
    Ice
    Aluminum foil
    Charcoal
    Lighter fluid
    Garbage bags
    Table coverings
Serving pieces – spoons, tongs, etc.
    Spatula
    Rags
    Insect Repellent

Together we should be able to knock some of this stuff out. We are expecting 30 to 60 people including children. I know this list doesn't look like much, but the dollars add up. At risk of sounding frugal, feel free to toss in a few bucks or pick up some things. Don't feel bad if you just pop in for a few or feel timid we want you there anyway to just hang out. The picnic is going to happen either way, the more the merrier. We are all generous here and just want to hang out with like minded individuals.

All are welcome and encouraged to come out and partake. Even if it is for a few minutes, grab a burger and shake our hands, we want to meet you!!

I will be at the park early with Misha and a few others to set up and things. My cell number is (586) 612-9200 if you need anything or have any questions.

croquet:
An outdoor game in which the players drive wooden balls through a series of wickets using long-handled mallets.

Should be a big hit! (no pun intended...lol) I'm not very good at it but I like to play!
