Charity ride Sat. Aug. 28th

I got a card in the mail for a charity ride on Sat. Aug. 28th. It's the "Mamon Ride for Children". It goes from Oakland County airport to Mott's childrens hospitali in Ann Arbor and then on to Gallop park for music (6 bands), food and drink. It costs $20 and is 100% donated to the Children's education fund. Registration is 8 - 11 am at the airport.

This might be something to do as a group. I have been on rides like this before and you can expect 90% Harley riders, but they do get a police escort to block off the roads.

At the last meeting it was mentioned that we might do a charity ride as a group. Is this what you had in mind?

I like charity rides, especially for the benefit of children. I unfortunately will not be able to participate. I have been on rides like this before. Not the most exciting rides, the police escort is great and speeds things up. The harley riders are civil, nothing more than your ordinary ball busting bantor back and forth. It is rather fun, acutally.

Just remember to who ever goes, it is for the children. Myself being a Shriner have devoted countless hours to the benefit of underprivelaged children and their families (crippled and burned, juvenile diabetes, etc.). The satisfaction is great. If I did not have an obligation that day, I would be on that ride to show support.

Expect a big, slow parade. It's not exciting riding but it is a spectacle to anyone watching. These are things where you go to donate some money to a worthy cause and just hangout with your friends, talk, eat and listen to the bands.

If there is anyone interested in representing Redlline and going as a group to this, you should post-up so we can get organized.
