That is a true tragedy. I am not wise to the facts of the case, but, it seems to me if the DVD player was not installed, the safety features were not disconnected, and he was not driving while the DVD player was on two very healthy people would be alive right now. Seeing that the cause of the accident was that he was reaching for a soda. Please.

Seeing that it is Alaska, that guy needs to have a hunting accident or something.

heres another one. The Court has not determined if this is an accident or Road Rage. apparently the motorcycle didnt take off from the light fast enough after the truck blew his horn at him. The truck just ran his ass over. The guy suffered 3rd degree burns over 70 percent of his body and lost one of his legs but somehow survived.

way to set a legal precedent...fucking idiots

It should be illegal to have those "entertainment centers" working in the front, while the car is in motion. Who the hell needs to have DVD player in their car anyway??? I mean do you get THAT bored while sitting an an intersection that you need to watch the matrix or play grand theft auto?

EDIT: That dump truck thing is SCAAARY... im about to tape a fire extenguisher to my back

This is what happens when society turns soft. If people had real punishment for their crimes instead of a paid baby-sitting service(Jail), then we'd all be better off. I.E. You kill someone, you're life should be in jeopardy(I'm not saying it's definately the death penalty, but it should always be considered when it's not a pure accident being at the wrong place at the wrong time). Stupidity and "Peoples Human Rights" is what is killing this country.

Even if those conveniences endanger every other driver on the road? Do you really spend that much time in your car? The benefits just don't outweigh the potential costs, as seen in the article above.

In all honesty I would be in favor of taking a good number of things out of automobiles. Sunshade mirrors would be one. Just look at yourself before you leave the damn house. I would also change the way radio's operate. Full operation while the vehicle is stopped, but once moving there are no changing stations or any other setting that distract the driver from driving. If you're in a car and on the road with me, I want you ass concentrating on the road and not movies, videogames, books, newspapers, fast food, cell phones, etc. Driving is a way to get from point A to point B, nothing more.

A lot of those reasons are precisely why I love riding bikes. You don't have all of those distractions, it's just you and the road.

The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all of fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomanical, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully. - Richard Dawkins, The God Delusion

Yes I used to spend that much time in my car and when my family take trips we use my car for that reason and others. What you have to relize is I don't drive and stare at the screen. It's mostly for listening or watching while im parked or for my passengers to watch/play while en rout to our destination. If you can't drive and change the radio or pick up a pop you don't need to be on the road at all(Not at you personally). It's more of a danger having a cellphone up to your head blocking your perferial vision than it is for me to have a DVD playing. imo
