Grattan Track Day Aug 14-15

Hey Gang:

Wanted to see if any one had done a track day with Sportbike track time. If so have you done one at Grattan. I am looking to do one in Aug. 14th 15th. Any thing I should be aware of? Any one else looking to go then? If so let me know and we can meet up out there.

Ok ... I'll be the first to bite...

No I have not done a track day with Sportbike Tracktime and never will... they do not run their sessions safely and their novice class is a joke.. ofcourse this is all hearsay from what other riders (numerous unrelated riders at that from different areas) have told me...

I will only do trackdays with Trackoholics... and many from Redline feel the same way based on the same reasons I stated.. so you will be hard pressed to find anyone here to go with you...

Sportbike Tracktime is ok for experience track folks that don't mind the free for all layout he has... but for the average person or beginner... I would not recommend anyone wasting their time or money going...

Could you give more specifics of what you have heard about not running safely and novice classs. If anyone else has heard anything I would be interested in knowing. Thanks.

without this turning into a bashing thread.. all I will say is it's a free for all ... and unless they have changed this since last year.. they had no real guidlines or rules they enforced to ensure a safe enviroment on the track.. they have experienced riders just go out and follow novice but dont' offer no real instruction.... if you are coming out to Trackoholics on Friday catch me there and I'll be happy to talk more with you.. plus you can see first hand how a trackday should run and it'll be easier to explain.. then you can spectate at one of their's and have something to compare it to first hand and not have to go by word of mouth.. plus I'm sure there will be riders there Friday that have been to a STT event and could give you first hand experience knowledge....

is Monte from STT still a site sponsor? He runs a very large organization...i find it hard to believe that he can be so successful for as many negative things you guys say about his trackdays, but what do i know?

I have to disagree. I have been to a number of STT events in the past two years and I found the novice class very structured and informative. The only time it was a "free for all" was the last session of the day, and it wasn't very free. Passing only on the left in the straights, no passing every where else. All in all I have nothing but positive remarks for STT. I enjoyed everything about their program. I think you should find a track day organization that you like, and to do that try several.

That's just my opinon, I could be wrong.

The point isn't that one track school organization is better than any other.

I think it is sad that someone comes on the board being inquisitive about doing a track day, (a very good thing) and is met by a bunch of negativity, attitude and drama.
