Folks,

I will be relocating to North Carolina from maryland. Can anyone suggest some good riding routes. I hear the Western Carolina area has some of the best roads and some may even say its some of the best in the East Coast.

In Maryland Northern part near West Virgina and Pensylvania was the place to be on two wheels.

Thumbs up

The area surrounding the N. Carolina/Tennessee border is full of some of the best roads I have ever seen.

Ever hear of U.S. 129? Check it out, you will not be disappointed .

Have a look here to see what I'm talking about.

Western NC, east Tn, and north GA are some of the best roads around! order this book from http://www.extremetwisties.com for a list of great roads in the southeast. It will be money well spent.

What part of NC are you moving to?

Also check out http://www.dealsgap.com and http://www.twowheelsonly.com

hey man have you ever been to greensboro before? I live in Lincoln Co.; that's directly west of Charlotte and am about 3 hours away from Greensboro. One of my friends has an ex that goes to UNCG and he has visited her a couple of times up there. He says that it's a pretty gettoed out place to live. Not to dish your new area to move to but if you already haven't you might want to check it out some more before you move. Interstate 40 has been under construction up there for about 4 years now and is not even begining to be finished yet. On the other hand there are some nice places in Greensboro also you just have to find them. I live about an hour and a half away from the mountains in NC and plan to go to ASU as a trasfer student when I get enough credits. I have a R6 and love to ride the roads up there. If you like awesome scenery and curvy roads you will love to take a visit up there asap!! You will need to wait untill around the mid part of May before it gets warm enough to ride up there comfortably though. If you need someone to ride with up there sometime reply back and can get a group of friends to go up there sometime on bikes and show you around. One of my friends has a ninja that is going to school at Appalachain State. He loves it up there. later man.

Yea, Western NC is a great place to ride. Lots of mountains and twisties. Only bad part on my end is that I live in Jacksonville (far eastern part), so that limits my riding out there. If anyone of you are going to be in the area, let me know and we can hook up..

all you have to do is head to West Jefferson NC on Sundays, we always meet up around 12 or 1 just stop anyone on a sportbike and you will find us. Awesome curvy mountain roads.

nc roads

hey man depends on where you are near Gbro
If you are south then there is Old Liberty Rd from Ashboro to Liberty. This can be crowded and cops can be Lollygagging about but one section has about 30+ turns in 6 miles. Ok so it's no Dragon but nothing alse is. If you are North of Gbro (like me)then there are some fairly deserted farmland roads; not terribley kinky but fun because of the isolation.

Also Va has some twisties but haven't been myself enough to tell you where. Danville (45 minutes N of Gbro) also has Virginia Int'l Raceway with track days and all. I haven't been yet myself (yet is the key word) but hopefully later in the summer.
Drop a line when you get in the area. I like riding with anyone but prefer the guys who have experience and enjoy the speed of it all
Adios
Matt

On the intersection of 150/68 by Kernsville. About 9am in the morning on Saturdays, some Sundays there is a group that meets at a gas station. Will be as you come up a hill on your right. Seems it is an Exxon. Get over there and meet up with that crowd for local riding. I have ridden only twice with them. They take corners in the rain about as smooth as you want to ever be!

Then if you want to hit some decent roads, go out 421 west. When you get to Boone pick a road. From there all the way to Bristol/skirt VA, to SC, you cant go wrong!

WARNING: married, bald and 2 kids rider may lash out at any time!
