The Gillies Hwy, North Queensland
Without a doubt the best road I have ever riden on a sports bike is the Gillies Hwy
Situated 30km South of Cairns it winds its way up the Mulgrave river valley
The point of note for this road is that it has 220 corners in 22 km
No BS, I have counted them myself.
It is very physical , the R1 nevers gets out of 2nd gear
If you hit it early in the morning there is little traffic and it is well surfaced hot mix for 90%
The down side is that if you screw up it is a long way down to the valley floor or a hadr crunch in to the rock face.
If you ever get the chance to visit Australias North then is is an absolute must for bike fans
