Thumbs up MD or VA Roads?

I'm brand new to the area and I'm a sucker for a fast twisty road. My knee sliders are screaming for some new scuffs and it would be great to meet a cool group of guys to ride with too. I'd love to hear about any good roads within a couple hours from DC. I hear Rt 211 in VA will get the ruber warm, any other ideas or input?

Cool dccycles.com

Check out the site I run for our local mailing list. If you go to the "area riding" section, you see a page called "ride sheets". You should find some good twisty rides to play with. There are Street Atlas files and maps to go with each of the routes.

Excellent! I am always looking for new routes. Mayhaps I shall try some of these on for size this weekend!

Thanks ChrisVTR

I love the site. I'm gong to try out some of those routes this weekend. By the way, I used to ride YSR's up in New England. I hope to get my hands on another one sometime soon. We must have the same taste in bikes. Thanks again.

Hey Chicken: you are right about 211, its great!
but also there are some great rides near you. I went out with the mid atlantic ductai club (MAD) and we rode out to the Thurmont area..really cool!

211 is nice, for only a short distance. Near the skyline drive, thats where its pretty twisty. If you go past route 81 you will find roads like this in west virginia, plus the scenery is much better. Route 33, Route 50, 19, 219, 28 in west virginia are pretty twisty.

The thurmont area is pretty nice, there are several roads in frederick that are nice too.
