California 395 / 108 Sonora Pass

Hello,

Planning on a trip in October up to Hwy 395 via 108 and was wondering if anyone has experience with that route. I was planning on staying the night up off of 395 somewhere but have no ideas yet. I think Bridgeport would be the biggest city in the area. I was also considering north of Bridgeport towards S. Lake Tahoe.

Any info would be great.

Miguel

108 is great, and yes, there are motels in Bridgeport. You may want to see of Cal BMW/Triumph is doing their "2 pass" Sunday ride on Oct. 7th. (first Sunday of the month ride). Oct. is normally when they do this ride. Normally leaves Cal BMW (in Mt. View) at 7:00 AM, and gets back around 7:00 PM. Long day, but great ride (~550 miles). Normally goes over the Sierra's on 108, and returns via 120 (through Yosemite park), but there are several other options that might be taken. You could go with the group one way, do some "local" riding around Tahoe, and return whenever. Any of those roads are great. Just beware the weather. You can get snow, or it could be warm.

Thanks for the info. I will actually be going up on the weekend after. But the 2 Pass trip sounds awesome. But probably a bit much on my RC51. I did 680 miles in two days and that was tough.

Once again, thanks for the heads up about Bridgeport.
