Yep, 144 has some good stuff. South of 80 there's not much to speak of except for the short leg from Snow Shoe down the mountain to Milesburg. The couple of miles from Bellefonte to Pleasant Gap is narrow and has numerous tight corners but it's a little "trafficy". Then the three miles over Mt. Nittany to Centre Hall is nice but again, too much traffic for my tastes. Finally, there's a ~8 mile section south from Centre Hall to Potters Mills but the only good thing about it is the Eutaw House restaraunt at the end of 144 in Potters Mills at 322.
The ten miles or so south of Renovo (Rte. 120) is recently paved, smooth, grippy and very twisty. In fact, it's my favorite section of road in PA right now! It's great going up the mountain or coming down, but I like coming down better. There's a few fast sweepers, some tight corners, and near the bottom where it starts levelling out there's a FANTASTIC stretch of mild esses - right left right left....
Last weekend I rode that section back and forth about seven times. Perfect!
