Question about helmet law and higher bike insurance

Mabye I am missing something but how does the repealing the helmet law translate into higher premiums for MOTORCYCLE insurance. That is one of the points that those who will choose to still wear a helmet often cite. But if you think about it...it doesn't matter to your bike insurace company whether or not you had a helmet on or not. The fact is you still damaged your bike. It's not like you are going to do less damage to the bike if you are wearing a helmet! I can understand the argument from the health insurance side of the coin. Is that really everyone means when they say insurance will go up? I don't think so.

Before I get flamed... I will always wear my helmet but I'm just curious as to where the insurance will go up argument comes from

1. Serious trauma
2. Long-term care

There is two... and the list can go go on...

Unless the insurance companies apply some sort of clause, everyone will pay higher premiums for those that decide to go w/o and get fuckyd up or killed. The obviously won't give breaks to those that wear their helmets.

You mean one of those ..."I am not a brainless idiot" clauses?

Should have played a little bumper tag with the wing. That might wake his ass up.

Spoke to the insurance agent today. she reports that there is nothing in the industry (as of today) to suggest that rates will go up. Take it for what it is worth.
