My Chron lap timer question

Bought a lap timer today and was wondering if anyone could tell me what I need to program on it and how because the directions that came with mine were horrible and did not explain things that clearly-how did you mount it as well and is it bad for it if it stays on the bike when I have stored it for the winter?

Yes, the directions suck.

Mine is on with just velcro. It is within the fairing's protection from wind so is OK. I made no effort to have it up where I can see it. I turn it on before to leave the pits and forget about it. I did put an extra 4" piece of velcro down to retain the loop of excess cable. I remove it and store it in the box when not at the track.

Dad is right, it should be where you don't see it or so it only reads the last lap, not like a stopwatch, you really don't want to be looking at it. Mount it in a place where if you crash it won't be damaged. As far as winter, my bike is stored in my garage and I have never taken it off in 3 years.

I would order just the actual timer and not the beacon because all of the people at the track usually have a beacon and both mychron and ultra lap both can use the same beacon. I ordered mine from fast lap but you can get them on alot of internet sites.
