Opinions on Ultralight class bikes...

Hi all,
I'll soon be racing in the CRA (central roadracing assoc.) on a GS500 in ultralight. I'm looking for opinions from other racing organizations and racers.

The CRA recently upped the ultralight class rules to allow Kawi EX500 and Ducati 620 sports and monsters.

Any other clubs running ultralight? and what bikes usually take the checkered at the end of the day?

Anyone have experience witnessing race EX500 and GS500 going head to head? Since the Ducs are fairly new I'm thinking not many have been put on the track yet (and their a fair bit more green to get started). Also take into account that most of our racing is done at BIR with a very LONG straight and full speed turns 1 and 2. Topspeed does count in laptimes, not just corner mastery.

Just looking for opinions.

My thought is the beloved GS500 is going to get blown into the weeds and will not be around (in a competitive sense) next season. Which ulimately means I need to start saving now. And for the price of a Duc 620 I might as well bump up to lightweight and go with a SV650.

Lastly, I wish the manufacturers would make something with modern tech in the 500cc under class. Anything would be fun to blast around the track on a budget would be great!!!!

Thanks for any ideas or story sharing,
Karl

i've seen gs's do well. i know ccs races an ultra-lightweight class, but i don't know if the 500's are allowed yet. they might be, allowed to drop down.

it's hard to see what bikes do well in it, there's usually three races within the race. lrrsracing.com and ccsracing.com should have results sheets up from last year.
