I need some advice on my starts...i ride an fzr 400..the power band is between 10-14...anything under and its a slug..i know you cant win a race on the first lap, but you can certainly lose it!! i try and slip the clutch, but i keep on dumping it to quickly..any advice would be appreciated..

My old 2 stroke race bikes had a very narrow powerband..so I know what ya mean..I use to get pretty good starts..it's a matter of keeping the rev's up, and slipping the clutch a tad..if you use 2 fingers for instance, try using 3 fingers on the lever, for me, it's harder to dump the clutch that way..I usually have 2 fingers on mine..I also tried to puposely keep the front wheel a couple inches of the ground...just practice..you'll get it..

I havenít done it, and it can be hard on the bike, but if you are serious try drag racing. Donít set the bike up for drags, keep it roadracing spec. You might want to order some new clutch plates first.

And this sounds like a thread for Club Racing and Track Days, it's under used.
