Thumbs up

I could not wait any longer, so I took the leap into the being socialable group of riders. I want some friends, too
I'm puting it all together right now.Does anyone have any tips that they would like to pass along? by the way, I paid $199.00 for mine, at the bike dealer. Had to back order the wife's headset, so I can't talk to her just yet

Enjoy and if you have questions, post away and we'll try to help where we can. We just got back from Deal's Gap and when my hubby and I rode with twistiesman and NinjaGal we all four could visit and point out road hazards and it was really fun. Got some good jokes in too.

Stacia,
Do you wear the box on your helmet or elsewhere? I rode with mine today, on the helmet. It's neat listening to music while you ride. I was the only one today with a box, so I have yet to try out the talking part. Is the range the same if mounted anywhere else? Do you prefer hardwired or batteries and how long do they last?
Thank you for all the help in deciding on what to buy. I was close to getting a CB radio, but I like the idea of talking to the wife(passenger) and being able to listen to some tunes

Todd, glad you like the Chatterbox. After riding last week with Amy and Mark, I can see there are positives and negatives to both the box and CBs (Amy and Mark use CBs).

To answer your questions, I wear the Chatterbox on my helmet and like it up there. Not sure if where you wear it affects the range, but I would think so. We got much less range on them in the twisty roads. As far as hardwiring, I am guessing you mean with the radio since the unit is rechargeable. I really don't run a radio much but when I do I use batteries. In the city, I find it is not good for my concentration but I do like music for longer rides and I just use a walkman with batteries but if you were going to use it a lot, hardwiring it in would be nice.

Hope I answered all your questions. I think you'll really like it when you can talk to your wife while riding. We sure love it for that.

Not very. They quit working when it rains very much and we always stop and put them in our tank bags to protect them. I think they can tolerate the rain, they just quit working for some reason. I'd recommend removing them and putting them somewhere dry when it rains.

Stacia,
I put a new topic in the wrong section - Sportbike gear, instead of this one. Can you move it for me?
On the waterproof part, I will go get the longer cord that goes from my helmet to the chatterbox so I can put it out of harms way and then I can still use it rain or shine.
Thanks for all your help,

Question

How clear is the communication on the chatterbox? A couple of the guys I ride with are looking into buying them & I want to make sure that we don't waste our money

It's comparable to talking with someone on a CB radio or a cell phone. I can hear on mine very clearly and the new ones that are stereo (the + model) are even better.
