Sargent Backrest for VFR

I know, I know. A backrest is so '60s and unsportbike-like. But my wife really wants one so I checked into it. There are 2 choices, the Corbin Gunfighter and Lady for $500 or the Sargent for $285. The Sargent is nice because it can be removed in 5 minutes and has a little shelf and backpack. BUT, the Sargent page said the back pad was 8" x 14", or as big as a Barcalounger!
So, I called Sargent and spoke to the owners. While I was on the phone they measured the pad and said it is only 7 1/2" x 8" - they'll fix their web page. So, mine is on its way. If the huge dimensions scared you off of the Sargent before, now you needn't worry. Larry

Got it, Installed it, Love it

Got my backrest today. Really well built. It is either aluminum or a lightweight alloy with black crinkle paint. Beautifully machined and thick, it has strength without weight. You assemble the 5 components on the bike for a precise fit. After that, it goes on and off in one piece. On a trial "sit" in the garage, the wife raved - she can sit farther back, lean back, has lots more room and feels much more secure. Oh, it looks great (for a backrest), too. Larry
