The DMG (daytona motor group) has bought the rights to the AMA. DMG also owns the rights to NASCAR. The head of DMG is trying to bring: 1) more fans 2) more competitiveness (sp?) 3) more money 4) more contestestants to the AMA racing organization.
It has been hotly contested among other sites that DMG will eliminate the Superbike class. Mat Mladin went public stating that the fans should not be blinded by DMG's propoganda and how DMG will dumb down the sport. I can mention a few sites, but you know where to search.
I wrote a post many ages ago how I thought Mladin should either retire or try to get a WSBK or MotoGP ride, because most riders who are too good for AMA leave. (
https://www.sportbikeworld.com/forums...ad.php?t=50630) Just like the best IRL racers move up to F1, and just how the best local club racers move up to a professional class.
I think DMG does need to make a change, but am unsure what. I will list my solutions.
1) more fans-- there all ready are millions of fans, they just dont' go to every race of pay a subscription to speed vision
2) more competitiveness-- reduce the classes to only 1000 SB and 600 SS. If organizations were not spread thin trying to compete in classes maybe they could focus resources/talent on two classes.
3) more money--offer fans the chance to watch AMA races online for a fee. Not just online, but LIVE. I would pay a small fee to watch online. I would not pay $39.95 to watch a 30 minutes race.
4) more competitors in the AMA racing organization- I am sick of seeing a privateer who is 10 seconds slower than the top 5 guys be allowed on the track. Meeting the first three issues will bring more sponsors to create teams.
What do you guys think about the situation?
