MV Agusta and AMA

May be old news to some, but I'm slow at current events

Could the MV Agusta make an appearance in the AMA?

Yep, Eraldo is going to field two riders in AMA Superbike. Their Italian rider didn't waste any time in smoking the Jennings GP track record.

If Eraldo will get a decent crew he can do well with that bike. He had several screwups that held them back in the late 90s when I was working with his satellite team.

Mechanical screw ups? Or should I ask?

Personally I hope they do well in the AMA series. And I hope Ducati returns with newfound enthusiasm. I wonder though, with adage "Win the race on Sunday, sell a bike on Monday", will we be seeing more Agusta bikes riding the America roads?

LOL When I say mechanical screwups in this case I'm refering to personnel. They had mechanics on the team more concerned with partying than taking care of business.

That whole organization completely lost focus. Eraldo's youngest son died not long after that in an accident near their shop. I'm hoping that refocused him. Not that the accident and their loss of focus was related in the first place just hope they got their shit together.

I did notice in their Jennings GP photo that the only two mechanics I recognized still there is their best two guys.

I haven't heard anything. I doubt they will be back until the AMA changes their rules to cut the twins some slack. Basically until they give them some extra cc's I don't think they will be back with a factory effort.

Btw, this kinda perplexed me a bit. Ducs are supposedly race bikes first, converted for the street. Why don't they fit slipper dry-clutch for their superbikes? I believe the 695 monster has some sort of back torque limiter. And all Japanese bikes have it, except Honda, so what gives for Ducati? I'd assume twins would need it just as much for lock ups from engine braking.

Thumbs up

Finaly a reason to watch the AMA again.

Tired of having to watch those ugly ass Suzukis chase each other around.

Be the best looking bike in the padock....
