Awesome racing

Wheel to wheel all the way thru the pack! I was LMAO when Tamada, Melandri, and Capirossi (or was that Gibernau?) were bumpin and grinding!

NIcky sure has matured as a rider. Not only is he screamin' fast at all the tracks his race craft and mental game is on as well.

Seems to me that Honda found "something" at Turkey and is set to turn the heat up a notch. Suzuki has found "something" as well. They could be a spoiler if not for their Bridgestone tires. Put 'em on Michelins and they would be rockin' every week!

If you watch the race, on the back straight of lap 15 his front fender went missing. Did the tire chunk rubber and blow it off, or did the fender chunk the tire as it came off?
I guess everyone was concerned about the rear tire, so nobody noticed the damage to the front during the pit stop.

I saw a pic of the front. It was a huge chunk, like 3 inches long and as deep as the tread. Maybe 3/8 of an inch deep. Would have made it impossible to continue.

I have never seen any race where the rider chunked the front only the rear. I think he either hit or ran over something or as you said the fender dug in and chunked it as it came off.

Carbon fiber fenders do vibrate and crack over time. Not hard to conceive that it came loose, fell down on the tire, bit in and was shredded.

I have seen a severely blistered front tire in an AMA Superbike race at Willow Springs CA.

I doubt that a fender would have come loose and done anything to the tire. Fatigue cracks on factory bodywork is not very likely. They go through quite a bit of it BUT.... anything is possible. You just never know. I've seen things happen that I would have swore couldn't.
