Welcome to SBW!

There are numerious threads on the new bike issue, and most agree that its best to start on a used bike, in the non race-rep category. Check out the SV650, Ex250/500, ER650, honda 599.

Depends alot on what fits you. My ex started on a Ninja 250. She was into the sport performance end of things, but wanted a bike of size /weight she could manage. Starting on a sport bike I guess is a bit agressive, but doable if ya respect its power and ride within your ability. Good luck....J

You have to love how all the guys jumped right onto a new rider in the women riders sub-forum But hey, so did I. Anyways welcome to SBW. Check out the other posts on new bikes, its a VERY common question. Vash pretty well sumed it up though. Get something old, that you wont worry about when you drop it because chances are you will, even if its just a garage drop. It hurts alot less

Good luck,
Sepias

GS500e is boxy looking I think. Don't rule out a ninja250 or 500, the sv650, and actaully come to think of it, there is the ninja650r now.
