Talking New to the boards..

ullo!

Am new to this site/forum/board, have just been poking around on the web looking for places to express my renewed Bike Love. ^_^ Am more computer/net savy than moto savy, and am BlackWing in most forums I visit, though mom named me Kymba. Real names are *fine* with me, net handles fun sometimes, but silly others.

I've been riding on and off for 19 years. Started on a little blue Yamaha 250 something, and about 2 years into it got knocked off by a mini-truck and the forks on it were bent. As I lay there in the grass by the sidewalk staring at the sky, I realized "a bigger bike, a little more 'go', and I could have avoided that dork." I was totally unharmed, except perhaps mentally, so I got an EX500 as soon after as possible. I've had that '87 EX500 since then, though there have been times it's been garaged for one or two years. {UGH, IDIOT!} Have just brought it out of a 6month hiatus and have found several people at work who ride. So..

Am going to ride her through the summer and have a lead on a 2002 Ducati 620 Dark for $5700-, will be making my buy in July/August.

I've always been a lone dork, or commute rider, never got interested in racing or performance stuff, or track riding. Lately however, the influences upon me have started me thinking I should take that advanced CC Rider course, and I should look into the AMA stuff at Sears Point. So.. I'll be going to watch the amateur stuff and am making plans to see the pro events in May.

I'm 35. WHY the heck NOW does this kneedragger gene kick in?

*lol* Mine kicked in last March after I flipped myself over the handlebars of my dirtbike as a kid. I went for 8 years of not riding, and I'm now even more of a gear head/ moto junkie than ever before!

Welcome to the boards! Glad I'm not the only moto junkie around.

w00t! yay, i was afraid the women's board was abandoned, seeing no real new posting since 2002.

i'm shopping now for leathers. don't know what it is, but the new bike idea has not only triggered New Helmet shopping but also the concern that my old-school cropped mc jacket and jeans uniform just aren't quite going to cut it.

mostly am thinking safety, want a back protector, want gloves not just for warmth but with knuckle protection, want boots with armor {not just wearing the usual tall Doc Martens.}

blaaah.. ok, i admit it, maybe clothes shopping is a girly kind of trait.

{decides to buy absolutely NOTHING in pink.}

Cheers,
~B~
