in search of....

I am desperatly searching for my first bike. I am 22 and totally in love with riding (well I have yet to be in the drivers seat but that's a small detail) My friend recommended the suzuki SV 650 to me. What does everyone think of them and does anyone know where I can get one (obviously other than a dealership!) I am just starting out so I don't want to break my bank account but still want a nice bike. I figure I have talked to enough guys about this so I decided to finally talk to women with the know all. hope someone out there can let me know something

Hi Krista!
As you can see from my user info, I ride an SV. This is actually my second full sized sportbike, and I couldn't be happier with it. The SV is an extremely user-friendly bike, I think they are one of the best bikes available to beginners. Check out SVRider.com for more info on these bikes.

The only real concern I have is that the SV is not a short bike, if you're shorter than 5'6 you may have some problems touching the ground!

Other bikes that come highly recommended for starting out are:
Ninja 250
Ninja 500
Ninja ZX6
FZR 400
FZR 600
YZF 600
VFR 500
CBR F1
CBR F2
CBR F3

(Aprilia RS50, YSR 50 if you want to start out really slow but have a ton of fun doing it!)

Most importantly, take an MSF beginners course and invest in some good safety gear: Helmet, Leather Gloves, Jacket.

And above all, welcome to your new obsession!

Erica

Elo...thanks for your reply! I am 5'8 to 5'9 so height thankfully isn't going to be a problem for me. Thanks for your info and I will definatly be taking the rider course.

I just started out riding myself on a GS500. Good ergonomics. I am 5'9" and touch the ground easily with both feet flat. Decent power and great price.

Cheezus, Busta.... get her killed why don'tcha?

tee hee...

MSF course, see if you like it. If you do, go to some dealerships, sit on bikes you like the look of and see what's comfy! And of course, gear, gear, gear!

Good luck!

Post curious

spicerke.........I see you ride a F4. How much did Lindemans lower it for you? How tall are ya? I am 5'0" so am having a little trouble with my confidence and getting started. I posted something a few weeks ago because someone close to me told me I could never get a sportbike cuz I was too short so I was curious if lowering your F4 hindered the performance at all?
