I would like to know your opinions on this situation.
Owner of a 2006 GSXR-1000, went to dealer for 4K mile service. Asked to have plugs saved if changed. Upon picking up the bike the service manager told me the tech determined "The cam chain tensioner was very noisy upon arrival. Serviced bike and test rode. Ran bike hard through two gears and noise went away. Tensioner was probably between teeth on the rod causing the noise and now it has readjusted itself."
Since this is a warranty part I asked the SM why he didn't have the tech look inside? He told me to make an appointment and went on to explain how many days it will take to fix it, let alone order the parts, if there are any broken. He also didn't have the plugs and forgot to put them on the invoice. I did not pay for them, probably not replaced... By running an engine hard you might blow out carbon deposits, but I can't imagine it fixing anything else. The bike does sound funny, easy to hear when idling.
Opinions are appreciated, enlighten me, I feel like an idiot...
