I have had my bike long enough now to get the breakin over with and have had several minor problems but all said this bike ROCKS .I have a few plans for the bike I will be putting on a Wolf pipe and Frame Sliders.I have chopped the rear fender and replaced the blinkers with short stalks and the front with flush blinkers.I have also put on a smoke zero gravity windscreen and had the bike coated with a gel clear coat that really makes the finish look awsome it makes the purple in the bike really shine.I would like anyone that owns this bike would share with us their thoughts and modifications.

I've had my 2000 Zx-9R(purple/mica) for about a month now. I'm still waiting on my dark smoke euro windscreen(it was a pain in the butt to find and chapperel has been very slow getting it to me!) I'm still looking for an exhaust--don't know which one I want yet. I've got a list of what I want to do to it, but money is the problem. By the way, this may be a stupid question, but what is a frame slider? I've heard of them, but not quite sure what they do. Also, how much was the clear coat job? I've just added that to my list if it's not outrageously expensive!!

Frame sliders - check the Tutorials forum. In layman's term, sliders are hard plastic knobs that bolt to the mainframe on both sides of the bike, and jut out through the fairings far enough so that if the bike goes down, it helps to minimize damage to the fairings, engine case, clutch cover, etc. Popularized by racers, they are fast becoming commonplace on the street.

Good job Pete!

The gel clear coat was $150. and it makes the bike look 100% better and my friend has a zx-7r he put on a wolf pipe and it was the best sounding pipe I have heard so that is what I'm getting.I know what you mean about hard to find the winscreen took me a week to find one for the y2x 9r but it is way cool so it was worth it still waiting on my blinkers it sucks ordering stuff and then waiting on it to ship

I have had my bike for over 2 months now. I have about 4000kms on it. No mods, no money, no ideas. I just ride it. I would like to see pics of your mods though. I think a black of smoked wind shield would make the bike a little too dark. Perhaps adding some yellow or green to the bike to compliment the stickers. ANyways send pics or a link.

BTW I have had the same problems! I hope that it didn't affect break in. ALso there is still a pinging or clicking noise. Some guy emailed me that his mechanic checked and adjusted his valves and cams. Too tight and too loose. It alleviate the noise to a degree.

You better get the frame sliders. Since those big heavy couches don't handle very well you will probably need the sliders. Plus paint that ugly has got to be expensive. Whoa! what a jerk I am.

Seriously, I love the black bike with the green graphics. I bet the bike is a blast to ride.

I have a '99 Black Mica 6R and, trust me, the bike looks killer with a smoked screen. I took the liberty of removing all the cartoonish decals to give it a cleaner look. Also removed ALL of the stock signals and put smoked flush mounts on front and integrated the rear signals into the stoplight clearing the way to completely chop the rear fender. A gold DiD chain and gold sprockets give the purple some contrast along with black levers and top it all off with black frame sliders and a paint matched rear hugger fender from eurobikes. Also, don't forget the smoked headlight covers to give it a complete stealth look.

Had the green beast for just over 8 months and 9000 kms, so far pretty happy! A few things could be tweeked so i sent it to the experts along with 5k and it came back like this.
Highmount Acropovic Titanium full system, BMC filter, ohlins kitted front forks & new style rear shock, fren turbo braided lines all round, carbies played with ( still waiting on a Factory kit ) Bagster tank protector.
Bike is much smoother to ride and pulls like a train as stock it was way to rich around 10.1 to 11.1 AFR on the dyno.
Stock reading [email protected] now [email protected] and a big torque boost through the range.
Next month if the jet kit and 4 degree advancer are in the bike gets the head off for a full work over and comp boost then dial in the cams to suit the package.
Just fitted new rubber Pilot Sports ( 2nd set)so far ahead of the 010 Bridgestones its a joke and the bike should just about be their, Pity the rider wasn't as easy to get sorted but its fun trying!
Some of my mates have R1s and it really burns one in particular that he couldn't get past before so wait till next time.
Anyone know of a decent Carbon hugger sick of the crud on my nice new ohlins?
As Kermit says its not easy being Green but their only jealous!
p.s. any one had any clutch slipping problems on their 9?
