Recently purchased a ZX-6R 636. It's an '03 but same as '04.

Bought in Irving TX with Zero miles for 6899. ~7500 out the door.

Researched the RR and not sure why you would buy unless you were going to race in 600 class.

peace

Leftover '03 RRs are cheap - and slow(er).

You'd buy an '04 RR if you have serious track-day pretensions, but can only afford one bike. Or something like that, anyway. Ok, I don't know why either.

Food for thought:

My decision to purchase the Zx-6R was based on

1. Price
2. Financing
3. Yamaha Reliability concerns - A recent flury of problems with my '03 Yamaha GP1300R PWC*

* Yamaha owners... no need to slam me. I am just gun shy. I am sure I will buy Yamaha again...maybe the new R1. We'll see.

Just got my Black 2003 ZX-6R for $6899. I added the extended waranty and such so it was a bit more out the door. Definately worth it.

Hey Apollo(or anyone else who knows), do the Cali versions of these bikes(ZX6R) perform as well as the others....with the (Cali)emissions regs and all? I've heard good things from people who own them, just curious.

I think they have a clean air thing that you can take off. Not sure though, I doubt you would care unless you were a serious racer.

That CA emmisions thing used to be an issue but most new bikes are "48 state legal" meaning they're no different. Might be worth asking on a specific model just to be sure but generally true for the last few model years.
