my first bike..

Im getting a bike in the next week or so and i've kinda narrowed it down to about 3 bikes. Im looking at a yamaha yzf600r which is my first choice. Cbr 600rr, which i also like a lot...and then a ninja zk6 or whatever it is...

which would be best for a first bike?

Here is what I would do. I myself would get the CBR600rr because I like how they ride. However you should get what you feel most comfortable with. go sit on all of them and then see if you could posible ride them. most places wont let you but there are a few out therr. but just make sure that you are comfortable on the bike.

actully, none of them would make a good first bike. if you havn't ridden on street before a new contemporary 600 sport bike can be an expensive form of suicide. do a search for / on the NUMEROUS posts about 'best first bike'.

a little bit of research wil pay off in a big way.

zk6 or whatever it is? Might want to do a little more research, either that or try to get a gun permit.

I just bought an R6(2000) and love it. Although it is my first street bike, I have been riding dirt all of my life. I have not had any problems with the power. I think it is a good first bike(so far), but I am a big guy too, and the bike doesnt have a lot of low end. It really takes off at around 6K Rpms. I rode with a friend that has an R1, and I am really glad I didn't buy one of those.

Good bikes from the big 4

If ya like Yamaha, yes get the YZF600R not the YZF-R6.
If Honda 600F4i not 600RR.
If Suzuki GS500F not GSX-R600.
If Kawasaki, Ninja 500 not ZX-6R or ZX-6RR
