There's not a lot of info here but you can check out this link http://www.motorcycledaily.com/31july02newmodels.html

I've seen a lot of different sites spreading this rumor. In about a month we should know if there's any truth to it.

PCS me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exclamation

"If" there is going to be a ZX10R it will not come out earlier than '04. I was at the local Kawasaki dealer earlier in the week. I took a look at his book. They are selling the same ZX9 as last year. I can't see any changes other than the paint. Don't get me wrong I love my 01 9. I'm tired of the bs in the mags. I only pray that the thing has reasonable ergo's. The 9 is fast as hell and you can ride it all day long.
BTW the zx6RR looks nice.

Take a closer look at the '02 ZX9R. It's not the same bike as the '00 and '01.

Just from the outside, you will notice it has a braced swingarm, the tail section is different (lost the grab rails), upper fairing bracket is incorporated into the gauge/headlight bracket (much cleaner look).

Some things unseen is the overall bike geometry, which is different. The earlier models get a little squirly when you grab a handful of throttle in the middle of a corner. The '02 is much more stable in the same conditions.

Given Kawasaki normally has a 2-year life cycle of their designs, the '03 will most likely be the same bike as the '02. That kinda sucks because I've been hearing that the ZX10R will be coming out in '03.

And no, the '03 is not a repainted GSX-R1000. Early development of the ZX10R were bases on a '99 ZX9R, with upgraded components. Early '01 reports showed that the "alleged" development ZX10R walked away from a R1 and GSX-R1000. But with the Kawasaki/Suzuki merger, and those were early tests, who knows.
